Seven days, 41 medal events and 24 Indian medals. The Asian Games 2026 athletics schedule ran from 23 to 29 September at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, and India came away with one gold, nine silver, fourteen bronze and four national records.

India’s campaign across the Asian Games 2026 athletics schedule was a study in contrasts. The team filled the podium more often than most had expected, but reached the top of it only once. On the closing evening, with the stadium emptying, the women’s 4x400m quartet finally delivered the gold that seven days of near-misses had been building towards.
This page carries the full Asian Games 2026 schedule time table for athletics with Indian Standard Time listings, the day-by-day breakdown, and every Indian medallist from Nagoya. It is the same information as our downloadable timetable, updated as each result was confirmed from the stadium.

Four National Records Fell in Nagoya
Four Indian records went during the Asian Games 2026 athletics programme, and three of them came in events where India has spent decades stuck behind a single name.
- Sawan Barwal, men’s marathon — 2:11:37. Barwal broke his own mark. He had already ended Shivnath Singh’s 48-year-old record earlier in 2026 with 2:11:58 in Rotterdam, then took another 21 seconds off it on the roads of Nagoya.
- Vithya Ramraj, women’s 400m hurdles — 54.75. At Hangzhou she had equalled P. T. Usha’s 1984 mark of 55.42 and had to share it. In Nagoya she went past it outright, and then anchored the relay that won India its only gold.
- Parul Chaudhary, women’s 3000m steeplechase — 9:08.67. Chaudhary was India’s busiest medallist of the week, adding a second bronze in the 5000m two days later.
- Mixed 4x100m relay — 41.06. A new national mark in an event India has only recently started taking seriously.

Nagoya 2026 Against Hangzhou 2022
Set against the last edition, the Asian Games 2026 athletics results make for an uncomfortable comparison. India reached the podium almost as often as it did four years ago, but the medals changed colour in the wrong direction.
| Hangzhou 2022 | Nagoya 2026 | Change | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | 6 | 1 | −5 |
| Silver | 14 | 9 | −5 |
| Bronze | 9 | 14 | +5 |
| Total | 29 | 24 | −5 |
| Position | 3rd | 6th | −3 |
Five golds disappeared and the bronze count went up by the same number, which is the signature of a team that is still competitive but no longer winning the close ones. Three of the nine silvers came with personal or season bests — Gulveer Singh over 1500m, Yashvir Singh in the javelin and Murali Sreeshankar in the long jump. On that evidence the form was there. The opposition was simply better on the day.
The encouraging part sits further down the list. Baranica Elangovan in the pole vault and Pooja Singh in the high jump opened up events India had written off, and both are young enough to be back in 2030.
