Background

Seema Kaliramna hails from Dinod village in Bhiwani district, Haryana, a region with a strong presence in Indian sport. Her father served in the Indian Army and participated in basketball and javelin throw. Growing up in a sporting family helped introduce her to athletics at an early age.

The Motherhood Comeback

For Seema Kaliramna, motherhood marked a major turning point in her sporting career. She gave birth to her son, Rudra, in 2022. Her return to athletics was not immediate or straightforward: she had to rebuild her strength, regain confidence in her technique and find a way to balance family responsibilities with the demands of training.

Commonwealth Games 2026

Seema Kaliramna won bronze in the women's discus throw at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, recording 58.65m. The medal came in her Commonwealth Games debut and represented a major milestone after years of rebuilding her career.

Asian Games 2026
