Asha stayed in medal contention deep into the competition but could not produce the improvement needed to move onto the podium. Her best effort of 13.83m came in the third round and ultimately secured fourth place.

Niharika struggled to find her rhythm from the opening attempt.

She began with a foul before producing 13.00m with a +0.4 m/s wind on her second attempt. However, she could not improve on that mark in the third round, recording 12.60m.

Asha Illango Misses Podium by One Place

Asha remained in the competition for all six rounds and produced her strongest jump in the third attempt.

She opened with 13.63m before fouling her second jump. She responded strongly in the third round, reaching 13.83m and moving into medal contention.

However, Asha could not improve on that mark in her final three attempts.

Her fourth jump measured 13.63m, followed by 13.65m in the fifth round and 13.59m in her final attempt.

India Falls Short of a Medal

Asha’s 13.83m remained the benchmark for India throughout the competition, but the required improvement never came in the final three rounds.

For Niharika, the early exit made for a more difficult evening. After fouling her opening attempt, she needed to find a strong mark in her remaining two jumps but could manage only 13.00m and 12.60m.

Asha, meanwhile, remained within the medal battle until the later rounds but ultimately finished fourth, leaving India just outside the podium.

The result means India leaves the women’s triple jump without a medal, with Asha narrowly missing the podium and Niharika unable to progress beyond the opening three rounds.
