Zhang Jiale Sets a New Asian Games Record

Zhang produced her winning throw in the fourth round at Paloma Mizuho Stadium. Zhao finished second with 74.83m. Japan’s Joy Iris McArthur claimed bronze with 68.42m.

The 78.27m throw broke the previous Asian Games record. It also highlighted Zhang’s impressive form during the 2026 season.

Before Nagoya, Zhang threw 78.64m on August 16. She later recorded a distance of 79.62m. Both performances were subject to the ratification process at the time.
