Nadia Battocletti reclaimed the European women’s 5000m title in dominant fashion, winning gold at the European Championships in Birmingham with a time of 15:37.84.
The Italian distance star returned to the top of the European podium in her specialist event, delivering a controlled performance to secure the continental crown.
Battocletti was joined on the podium by compatriot Micol Majori, who produced an impressive run to claim the bronze medal in 15:40.65.
Spain’s Marta GarcÃa split the two Italians, taking the silver medal with a season’s best of 15:39.98.
