Romell Glave was crowned European men’s 100m champion after winning gold in front of a home crowd in Birmingham, clocking 10.09s into a -0.4m/s headwind.
The British sprinter produced a composed performance to take the title and lead a British 1-2 in the final.
Jeremiah Azu claimed the silver medal in 10.16s, while Germany’s Owen Ansah completed the podium with 10.19s to take bronze.

Glave’s victory was particularly significant with the championship taking place on British soil, as he delivered the biggest performance of his European campaign when it mattered most.
Defending champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs was unable to defend his title after pulling up with an injury during the final. He was listed seventh in the results after recording 12.26s.
The result gives Britain a memorable gold-and-silver finish in the men’s 100m, with Glave securing the European crown ahead of compatriot Azu.
