India’s distance-running star Parul Chaudhary delivered a personal best in the women’s 1500m final at the 2026 Asian Games on Saturday. However, she narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in 4:09.46.
Fellow Indian finalist Pooja Olla finished sixth with a time of 4:16.78.
Parul Chaudhary Sets Personal Best but Misses Podium
Parul entered the race as one of India’s most accomplished endurance athletes. She produced a significant improvement, cutting more than nine seconds off her previous personal best.
However, the high-intensity race proved challenging. Despite her improved timing, she finished outside the medal positions.
Parul is also the national record holder in the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m. Her fourth-place finish marked a missed podium opportunity at the continental event.
Pooja Olla Finishes Sixth
Pooja Olla also represented India in the women’s 1500m final. She crossed the finish line in 4:16.78, securing sixth place.
Both Indian athletes completed the final, but neither managed to reach the podium.
