Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, Punjab, will be hosting a 3-day action-packed competition, the 21st National Youth Athletics Championships 2026, which will also serve as the upcoming Youth Olympics 2026.
Around 650 athletes will be participating across 36 events, 18 for men and 18 for women.
Although no qualification standards have been announced by the Athletics Federation of India, the federation may select the top 2 athletes from each event based on the best results.
The event will be a stepping stone for Indian athletics as we get to see the new stars who we will be seeing more often in the future.
The 100m and 200m have received the most entries among both categories.
What stands out is the women’s javelin throw, which has received around 30 entries. This does look promising when looking at the future of Indian athletics.
