Tanya Chaudhary produced the biggest throw of her career at the Indian Series Final, breaking the Indian women’s hammer throw national record with a sensational 68.35m.
The Uttar Pradesh thrower also comfortably cleared the Asian Games qualification standard of 61.72m with her lifetime-best effort.
Tanya Chaudhary Produces Record-Breaking Throw
Tanya’s performance is particularly significant after she narrowly missed the Asian Games qualification standard in her previous competition.
She fell just 2cm short of the mark last time. This time, she responded emphatically, clearing the standard and pushing the national record to a new level.
The previous national record belonged to Anushka Yadav, who threw a historic 67.02m at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in June.
Yadav broke the record twice during that competition. She first threw 65.64m before improving it to 67.02m.
Two Uttar Pradesh Athletes Rewrite the Record Book
The women’s hammer throw national record has now been bettered twice this season. Both record-breaking performances have come from athletes representing Uttar Pradesh.
First came 18-year-old Anushka Yadav, who emerged as one of the biggest revelations of the season.
Her 67.02m throw also made her the youngest Indian woman to hold the senior national record in the event.
Now, Tanya Chaudhary has taken the record even further with her 68.35m effort.
Tanya Makes a Major Leap
Tanya has been a consistent presence at the top level of Indian hammer throw.
Before this breakthrough, her personal best stood at 63.91m, recorded in August 2025.
Her latest throw represents a massive improvement on that previous best. It also puts her firmly in the spotlight ahead of the Asian Games 2026.
