Representing Madhya Pradesh, Krishan Chandran clinched the Men’s U18 Javelin Throw title with a throw of 74.83m at the ongoing 41st National Junior Athletics Championships 2026 at Chennai’s JN Stadium.

But what is shocking is that he is the same athlete against whom multiple protests were lodged last month at the Youth Nationals, where he also won gold with a massive meet-record throw of 79.92m.

The protest alleges that he is overage, with a result document from the 2024 Junior Nationals attached, in which “DQ” for overage is written against Krishan’s name in the U16 Javelin Throw category.

So, if an athlete was disqualified for being overage in the U16 category in 2024 by the AFI, how was he allowed to compete in the U18 category just two years later?

After the incident at the Youth Nationals, NNIS Sports reached out to the meet’s technical delegation, which said, “A protest has been lodged against Krishan, and he has been asked to appear at the AFI office for proceedings.” These proceedings primarily involve document verification and a bone test.

A source also revealed that Krishan was disqualified in the U16 category in 2024 after the AFI conducted a bone test.

Krishan is currently training at Madhya Pradesh’s DSWY Academy under coach Mohd Hadeesh, who was himself a javelin thrower and a bronze medallist at the 2020 Khelo India University Games.

So, the big question remains: who will take accountability for this? Will we get any answers from the AFI?
